There’s an old adage that says if you do what you love for your job, it will never seem like work. Since 1998, Joanna Badano has been one of the lucky few that can call that adage her own. Three years into her budding career, her talent in the culinary arts was formally recognized when she was awarded the James Beard scholarship. A year later she graduated at the top of her class at London’s prestigious Le Cordon Bleu, adding the title of Professional Chef to her growing list of credentials and experience. Fast forward to the present and you will find her signature vision in a comprehensive portfolio of cookbooks, product packaging, print and electronic media, ranging from local to national in scope.

For Joanna, the title of “Food Stylist” just scratches the surface of her contribution to a successful shoot. It often starts with hand selecting only the highest quality ingredients and expertly preparing them. Only then does the plating and arranging come into play, with her vision blending seamlessly with that of photographers and clients to create the perfect shot.

Need a vintage serving utensil? A richly textured surface? An assortment of fine table linens? With her large prop library at the ready, Joanna has virtually everything you may need to complete the picture. And what she doesn’t have, she will literally search the world to find.

When she’s not in the studio preparing for her next photo shoot, you will either find her in the greenhouse tending to her seedlings, or in the kitchen teaching her two young daughters a thing or two, and inspiring the future stylists in the family.
